Emirates News Agency – Ensuring rights of children a national, social responsibility: Hessa Buhumaid

DUBAI, 14th March, 2019 (WAM) — Emirati Children’s Day is an occasion to renew our commitment towards the rights of children, said Hessa Essa Buhumaid.

In a statement, the UAE Minister of Community Development said, Emirati Children’s Day affirms the fact that “embracing, educating and guiding children is a national educational task and societal responsibility.

“Its purpose is to prepare future generations to continue the accomplishments and development of the nation and enhance the pioneering role of the United Arab Emirates at international levels.”

She added that the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, who called for marking the Emirati Children’s Day on 15th March each year, coinciding with the declaration of the UAE’s Child Protection Law, otherwise known as ‘Wadeema’s Law’, in 2016.

“This reflects the UAE’s interest in future generations and the importance of raising them according to the cultures and traditions of the nation and the wise leadership’s instructions to prepare generations who will keep pace with giving, tolerance, fraternity and development,” Buhumaid explained.

She reaffirmed the Ministry of Community Development’s commitment to achieving the best care for children based on Wadeema’s Law, harnessing all possibilities for the preparation of generations to be capable of taking on social and national responsibilities.

“The role of families and parents in raising their children and fulfilling their psychological and social needs reflects the aspirations of younger generations positively for the welfare of their future and nation,” Buhumaid concluded.
