1st phase of Qatari Diar’s Houara resort opens in Morocco

Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz al-Thani inaugurated yesterday the first phase of Qatari Diar’s Al Houara resort in Tangier, Morocco.
The inauguration was attended by Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicraft and Social Economy Mohamed Sajid, Governor of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region Mohamed Mhidia, and a number of ranking officials from Qatari Diar and from Morocco’s economic, tourism and investment sectors.
The project’s first phase includes the construction of a Hilton Luxury Hotel and an 18-hole golf course.
The Houara resort is one of the world’s leading tourism projects with an area of 234,000 hectares (2mn and 340,000sq m) and embodies the strength of brotherly relations between the two countries and peoples.
The opening of this phase comes within the new strategic plan of the project announced by the CEO of Qatari Diar Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah in his first visit to the project’s site last October.
It also demonstrates Qatari Diar’s ability to deliver international projects efficiently and effectively within its pre-defined delivery plans.
Morocco’s minister of tourism said that the project is a great addition to tourism in the Kingdom of Morocco and in the state of Tangier in particular and a clear indication of the depth of the Qatari-Moroccan relations.
He expressed his thanks to Qatari Diar for completing the first phase of the project, and added that they were ready to help face any challenges facing the completion of the project.
For his part, al-Attiyah said that the company is laser-focused on becoming a market leader in its regional market, and on offering high quality lifestyle and innovations in real estate development.
He added that the company was in a race against time to finish all the projects it currently has, and to develop more of its assets and investments around the world.
He stressed that completing the first phase of the Houara resort is a new achievement added to the company’s records, and added that it also helps Qatar make its mark on the tourism sector in Morocco.
He added that the features of the project made it a landmark in real estate development around the world, particularly in tourism investment.
