2 Saudi citizens injured in New Zealand terror attacks


WELLINGTON — The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Wellington, New Zealand, said in an official statement that two Saudi citizens were among those injured in terror attacks in two mosques in Christchurch during Friday prayers.

“A Saudi citizen was slightly injured during the shootings and was reassured of his health and safety, the statement read.

The embassy later issued a statement saying a second Saudi citizen also sustained injuries and was being treated in a Christchurch hospital.

“Staff from the Embassy have been assigned to visit the injured citizens and take care of them,” the embassy added.

In its earlier statement, the embassy called upon all Saudi nationals in Christchurch city to be vigilant and follow the instructions issued by the local authorities and stay indoors for the time being until the situation returns to normal.
